About Me

I am currently a senior research scientist at Intel Labs. Broadly, My research focuses on the development of systems and AI that collect and reason about complex sensor data.

I have over 10 years of experience in the areas of mobile computing, Machine/Deep learning, context awareness, and AI in manufacturing. Previous assignments at Intel involved developing sensing systems and machine learning techniques that can reason about human context, activities, and social interactions in the wild. My work has been productized in various Intel commercial products and deployed in Intel manufacture settings.

Results from my research have been published in a number of top conferences including Ubicomp, MobiSys, ISWC, Sensys, and AAAI. According to Google Scholar, I have more than 8000 citations and my h-index is 26.

I received my Ph.D. degree from the Department of Computer Science at Dartmouth College. My Ph.D. advisors are Prof. Andrew T. Campbell and Prof. Tanzeem Choudhury. As part of my doctoral work, I created the SoundSense system, which is the first ubiquitous sound understanding system for smart phones. I hold bachelor and master degrees in Computer Science from Tianjin University, Tianjin, China.

I am serving as Associate Editor for IMWUT. I have been Registrations Chair of Mobisys 2017, Posters/Demos Chairs of Mobisys 2014, PC member of IPSN 2017, Ubicomp 2015, IEEE MASS 2013, Nokia Mobile Data Challenge (MDC), and the MobiSense 2011.
